Miss Christina Summerhayes is a highly respected Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon with over 20 years’ experience. Qualifications
Miss Summerhayes qualified from Imperial College London in 2001 and completed her training within the Wessex region prior to accepting a National Fellowship appointment in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery. Appointed Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2011, she subsequently undertook a substantive Consultant position at the University Hospital Southampton (UHS) in 2012. As the Lead Clinician within the University Hospital Southampton Breast Unit, Miss Summerhayes established a specific focus on improving surgical outcomes and enhancing the output of the unit, before being appointed to her current role as Trust Clinical Cancer Lead for University Hospital Southampton. In this role she is responsible for the delivery of cancer management pathways throughout the entirety of the University Hospital Southampton Trust, whilst also retaining clinical responsibilities as a Consultant Breast Surgeon. She has acted in an advisory capacity to Macmillan Cancer Support and has been a member of the writing group for the Oncoplastic Breast Reconstruction: Guidelines for Best Practice.
