We deliver a comprehensive, triple-assessment breast clinic service, which is rapidly accessible and in many cases, requires only one visit to the hospital. The service is designed to help patients through the process of breast examination, using specialist diagnostic techniques, based on the specific needs of the individual.
What to expect in the clinic
We understand that a visit to the breast clinic can be a worrying time for you, but rest assured that you are in good hands. Our comprehensive service will provide you with:
- An initial consultation with your chosen Consultant.
- Physical examination
- A mammogram and/or ultrasound as recommended by your Consultant, with results provided on the same day.
- Aspiration of cyst fluid (if required)
- Biopsy (if needed) -these specimens are sent away for analysis and results are usually available within a week.
- Gene testing (if needed).
It is important to remember that the majority (usually more than 90%) of patients seen are given a benign (non-cancerous) diagnosis. However, if you are diagnosed with a breast cancer, you will be supported by the team throughout your treatment.
